The Starling at Pond Eddy is owned and operated by Kristen Scalia + Peter Murphy. Sullivan County holds a special place in our hearts: it’s where we live part-time and also where we got married (just up the road, actually!). While in the Catskills you’ll find us lying in a hammock enjoying a good book, sipping on a cup of tea by the fire, or zig-zagging through the curves of the Hawk’s Nest. More importantly, though, time in the country allows us the luxury to slow down and savor a break from our normal 9-to-5 routines. It’s the kind of getaway that has you in pajamas all weekend, eating hearty meals with friends and waking up early to listen to the woods come alive at dawn.
We love the storied history of the Riverhouse & Cottage. As one of the last known buildings to have been constructed along the Historic Delaware and Hudson Canal, The Starling at Pond Eddy has housed its fair share of visitors from its start as a general store and boardinghouse to its more contemporary use as an antique store. We’ve spent countless hours restoring these historic buildings – some of the architectural details are almost 150 years old! – and we hope that by staying here you feel our love for this place and get to enjoy some of our favorite parts of visiting Pond Eddy.
