The Riverhouse

Apartment • Boardinghouse Rooms • General Store (Private Event Space)

The Starling at Pond Eddy’s Riverhouse was built by A. Maney in 1883 and is reported to be one of the last known buildings to have been constructed along the Historic Delaware and Hudson Canal. The main floor of the Riverhouse originally housed a general store and has much of the original wood floors and ceilings intact. The upstairs—thought to be former boardinghouse—contains elaborate woodwork and colored glass windows.

The Upper Woods

Guests are welcome to walk and explore The Starling at Pond Eddy's almost 8 acres of wooded hillside. A walking path ascends from the northern boundary of the bluff behind The Riverhouse. This area can be used to create an intimate woodland atmosphere for wedding ceremonies or as a recreational space for activities such as archery and axe throwing.

The Starling at Pond Eddy is an ideal choice for wedding parties who are looking for the convenience of staying on-site. The Boardinghouse Rooms can be combined with The Apartment through the use of a partition door, seamlessly allowing parties of up to 12 guests to enjoy a shared experience. We have several outdoor spaces to accommodate intimate wedding ceremonies, special events, or other group activities. The back lawn can be used for games or cocktail hours and our upper plateau (a clearing located in the woods overlooking the Delaware River) can support a small tent or ceremony set-up. Fire pits are located behind both The Riverhouse and The Cottage for roasting marshmallows. A shared propane grill is also available for guests to use. Guests who prefer an indoor set-up can also utilize our General Store, which can comfortably seat up to 85 guests for a formal dinner.
